The String of Pearls is a Ship-Self belonging to Cradle's Graces. During the events of the game, it is operated by Pilot Saturn although it was originally assigned to someone else.
String of Pearls is a prototype Ship-Self. In the Cradle's Graces Ending, a dozen String of Pearls units are deployed by Iapetus. It is designated as a seducer-saboteur model in its documentation.
The String of Pearls is equipped with electromagnetic conductors which liquify electrical energy into a pink corrupting liquid referred to as electrotoxin, neuroelectrics, or neurolightning. Rather than being protected via armor, the chasis of the String of Pearls is made of malleable plastic that can deform and repair itself extensively - the documentation even stating that taking damage head-on is safer than trying to avoid it, as it provides the opportunity to attack with its electrotoxin claws.

[edit | edit source]- Celestial Mechanics traded the knowledge for how to finish String of the Pearls in exchange for what Cradle's Graces needed to finish the Krun Macula.
- In the promotional post for Saturn on Tumblr, the full name "Interloper Prototype String of Pearls" is used.[1]
- String of Pearls is also the name of a meterological formation on the planet Saturn, caused by cloud clearings revealing the planet's internal thermal glow.
